Battle of AI Chatbots: Bard vs. ChatGPT
In the world of AI chatbots and language models, the competition is heating up between Google’s Bard and OpenAI’s ChatGPT. ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, took an early lead and gained widespread popularity, currently ranking among the top 30 websites globally. In contrast, Google’s Bard had a slower start, with only 183 million visitors in August, representing just 13% of ChatGPT’s traffic.

To bridge the popularity gap, Google is introducing several key updates to Bard. One major move is the introduction of Bard Extensions, allowing users to access data from various Google apps and services, such as Gmail, Docs, Drive, Maps, and YouTube. This integration aims to provide more concise responses and make Bard a more versatile tool.
Another feature aimed at boosting user trust is Bard’s ability to admit uncertainty or provide an acknowledgment when its responses fall short of expectations. Additionally, the “Google it” button has been improved to enable users to cross-check Bard’s responses against web content, enhancing information reliability.
One significant advantage Bard currently holds over ChatGPT is its ability to offer up-to-date information from recent events at no cost, while ChatGPT’s latest version, ‘GPT-4,’ requires a subscription to the ChatGPT Plus premium plan, priced at $20 per month. This accessibility to real-time information positions Bard favorably.
However, while Bard is making strides with its updates and features, it still has room for improvement to fully meet user expectations. The competition between Bard and ChatGPT continues to evolve, and both AI chatbots are vying for supremacy in the AI language model market.
