India To Launch World’s First Multi-Sensor Satellite Drishti

Image
Indian space technology start-up, GalaxEye, is set to launch the world’s first multi-sensor   satellite , named “Mission Drishti.” This innovative satellite combines Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Optical Sensors to revolutionize Earth observation. While current optical sensors struggle under cloudy conditions or at night, SAR can function regardless of sunlight availability. By integrating both sensors, Mission Drishti promises high-resolution images and rapid data generation, providing global coverage in under 12 hours. GalaxEye aims to serve various sectors, including agriculture, natural disaster insurance, defense, and intelligence, with its data. The satellite’s continuous monitoring capabilities can streamline insurance claim processes and offer valuable insights for numerous industries. Depending on demand, GalaxEye may expand its operations by launching a constellation of 10 satellites. The start-up is incubated at the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-...
