In India, political participation extends far beyond the simple act of voting; it encompasses the ability to engage in the decision-making process, political activism, and social consciousness. Our Constitution, the bedrock of our democracy, guarantees equal political rights to all citizens. Article 84(B) grants Indian citizens over the age of 25 the right to contest Lok Sabha elections, regardless of caste, religion, or gender. However, the question remains: do women in India truly have an equal opportunity to contest elections? Unfortunately, the answer is a resounding no.
