PM Modi Unveils Eco-Friendly Terminal at Andaman's Veer Savarkar Airport
Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the new integrated terminal building (NITB) at Veer Savarkar International Airport in Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The terminal, shaped like a shell, cost ₹707.73 crores and offers 100% natural lighting for 12 hours a day. With a capacity to handle 1,200 passengers during peak hours and around 40 lakh passengers annually, it aims to improve connectivity to the island. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of State for Road, Transport and Highways and Civil Aviation, General (Retd.) V K Singh, and other senior officials.
