ISSF World Cup 2023: India Wins 3 Gold Medals At Cairo
Rhythm Sangwan, Varun Tomar, and Rudrankksh Patil shined at the International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup 2023. Indian players have won 3 gold medals to date.
In the Men’s 10m Air Rifle competition, reigning champion Rudrankksh Patil defeats Ulbrich of Germany 16-8 to earn a gold medal.
Earlier, in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team Gold Medal Match, Team of Rhythm Sangwan & Varun Tomar defeated Serbia’s Zorana Arunovic & Damir Mikec by a score of 16–10!
At the ISSF World Cup in Cairo on Tuesday, world champion Rudrankksh Patil overcame exhaustion and fever to win his maiden World Cup individual gold.
Rudrankksh, 19, earned a score of 629.3 to place sixth in the eight-man final. In order to get to the gold-medal match, he later finished first in the ranking round with a score of 262.
He barely broke a sweat as he defeated Germany’s Maximilian Ulbrich 16-8 in the championship match.
“I was sick with a cold and fever, and yesterday’s mixed-team game had worn me out. Individual bouts are usually scheduled first, but this time it was the contrary. Yet, it taught me how to effectively use my energy,” Rudrankksh told media reporters.
Rudrankksh is starting to favor the Cairo range as a hunting location. The Thane shooter has five gold medals total after winning the World Championships title last year, including two gold medals in mixed events (one each from the WCH and the WC) and 3 different medals (1 WCH, 1 WC, 1 WC Finals).
Rudrankksh’s heart was broken by the Cairo race in his maiden World Cup appearance, where he placed 11th.
The player said jokingly, “It looks like I have taken my retribution appropriately. “My first visit was disheartening because I wasn’t even able to advance to the final. But following that, I took home every gold medal offered here.
