Youthful Volunteers Unite to Make the 37th National Games a Triumph
The 37th National Games in Goa isn’t just about sports; it’s a celebration of teamwork and enthusiasm fueled by thousands of young volunteers. These passionate individuals, hailing from various parts of Goa, are united in their goal to create a joyful and successful event.
As the host for the National Games for the first time, Goa is showcasing not only its picturesque beaches but also providing a platform for new athletes to shine. The volunteers, some as young as 18, are excited to contribute to this historic sporting event, aiming to portray Goa not just as a tourist destination but as a welcoming host for a major sports gathering.
Sunil, a volunteer from Margao, radiates hospitality with his friendly smile at Colva Beach, the venue for Beach Football. Selected by his college after Goa University sought volunteers in October, Sunil, with prior volunteering experience at a music concert and a love for sports, secured his spot among the chosen 100 out of 250 students in his college.
Firdouse Mujawar, another volunteer at Goa Engineering College overseeing Archery, sees this opportunity as a chance to enhance his social skills, meet influential individuals, and interact with renowned athletes. Volunteer Managers like Rishav Sharma at Colva Beach play a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations, overseeing tasks and ensuring all volunteers are well-informed.
Some volunteers, like Claude Beranza from St. Xavier’s College, are partaking in this as a paid internship, recognizing the value it adds to their CV. Claude’s responsibilities include coordinating with different stakeholders, managing the media lounge, and handling various tasks.
The volunteers form the heart of the National Games in Goa, infusing each moment with their hard work and enthusiasm, guaranteeing the success of the event. This experience not only provides them with an opportunity to learn and gain valuable experience but also allows them to be a part of something significant in their home state.
