The event, hosted at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), initially planned outdoors, moved indoors due to heavy rain. However, this did not dampen spirits, with over 7,000 enthusiastic participants joining PM Modi in practicing yoga. This year's theme, "Yoga for Self and Society," highlighted yoga's dual role in enhancing personal health and fostering community well-being.

Addressing the nation from SKICC, PM Modi emphasized yoga's growing global significance, describing it as a potent force for global welfare and a means to live in the present moment free from past burdens. He extended warm greetings to participants worldwide engaging in Yoga Day celebrations.

Acknowledging the increasing global embrace of yoga, PM Modi noted, "Wherever I go, there is hardly any international leader who does not talk to me about the benefits of yoga." He reminisced about proposing the International Day of Yoga to the United Nations in 2014, a proposal that received resounding support from 177 nations.

Reflecting on the evolution of Yoga Day, PM Modi remarked, "Since then, Yoga Day has been setting new records." He attributed yoga's burgeoning popularity to its ability to foster inner peace and bring about positive societal transformation. "Yoga is forging new paths of positive change in society," PM Modi added, underscoring its role in promoting global harmony.

PM Modi highlighted the global influence of yoga, citing the example of 101-year-old Frenchwoman Charlotte Chopin, honored with the Padma Shri for her efforts in promoting and popularizing yoga in France.

Discussing yoga's role in India's tourism sector, PM Modi noted the rise of yoga tourism in states like Uttarakhand and Kerala, drawing visitors seeking authentic yoga experiences. He also highlighted the growing demand for personal yoga trainers and corporate wellness programs, creating new avenues for employment.

In the context of the modern era, PM Modi emphasized, "Yoga is not just ancient wisdom; it is also a science." In today's information age, where distractions abound, yoga offers a solution by enhancing focus and concentration. PM Modi pointed out that yoga has been integrated into the routines of the military, athletes, and even astronauts involved in space missions, enhancing their tolerance and productivity.

Expressing satisfaction with the growing popularity of yoga in Jammu and Kashmir, PM Modi predicted positive implications for the region's tourism industry. "The increasing number of yoga practitioners in the region is a positive sign and will contribute significantly to local tourism," he remarked.

PM Modi's leadership on International Yoga Day not only emphasizes the importance of yoga for individual health but also underscores its potential to foster societal well-being and global harmony. Through his initiatives and advocacy, PM Modi continues to promote yoga as a universal practice that transcends boundaries and promotes unity and wellness worldwide
