What’s The Controversy With Sunny Deol’s Juhu Bungalow?

Bank of Baroda initially issued a 30-day auction notice for Bollywood actor and BJP MP Sunny Deol’s Mumbai bungalow due to a ₹55.99 crore loan default. However, the notice was later withdrawn by the bank, citing “technical reasons.” The property, named Sunny Villa, was scheduled for e-auction with a reserve price of ₹51.43 crore. The Deol family’s Juhu bungalow, housing a recording studio, office, theater, and post-production suites, was mortgaged for the loan.

Sunny Deol’s representative confirmed that efforts were underway to address the issue and urged against unwarranted speculation. The sudden withdrawal of the auction notice prompted questions, with Congress leader Jairam Ramesh raising concerns and seeking clarity on the reasons behind it. The bank later acknowledged a “technical glitch” and decided to withdraw the auctioning of Sunny Villa under the SARFAESI Act.

The controversy attracted political attention as Sunny Deol is a BJP MP, with the Congress party attempting to capitalize on the situation. Deol’s team had been working to resolve the issue with the Bank of Baroda for several months prior to the notice being withdrawn.
