Gayatri Gopichand And Treesa Jolly Gives India 3-1 Winning Lead

P.V. Sindhu and H.S. Prannoy already won their singles matches and India entered into the quarterfinals of the Asia Mixed Team Badminton Championships.

The Badminton Asia Championship has begun. The Asian badminton elite is promoted through Competition.

PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic champion, is leading the Indian team. The competition will last for one week, beginning on February 14 and ending on February 19, 2023.

The third version of the competition had 17 squads, which were split into four groups. China, South Korea, Uzbekistan, and Singapore make up Group A.

Malaysia, India, Kazakhstan, and the United Arab Emirates are in Group B. Indonesia, Thailand, Bahrain, Syria, and Lebanon are members of the TJIRD organization. Japan, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, and Pakistan make up Group D.

In their final Group B match at the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships in Dubai on Thursday, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand of the women’s doubles team outlasted Tan Pearly and Thinaah Muralitharan 23-21, 21-15 to help India defeat Malaysia 3-1.

The triumph enabled India to win Group B. The Indian ladies were down a game in the first one before they managed to save a game point and defeat the gold medalists from the Commonwealth Games. The Swiss Open was also won by Tan and Thinaah the previous year.

Previously, HS Prannoy and PV Sindhu won their matches, while Chirag Shetty and Dhruv Kapila’s men’s doubles team fell short to Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik 16-21, 10-21.

Prannoy, who got things going for India, defeated Lee Zii Jia in a tough match 18-21, 21-13, 25-23. The Indians dropped the first game but won the second with flair after a strong comeback.

In the championship match, Prannoy led 11-7 at one point until the previous All-England champion rallied. Despite the see-saw duel, Prannoy was able to win.

But Sindhu had no such issues as she quickly dispatched Ling Ching Wong. 21-13, 21-17. Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto are going to play Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei in a mixed doubles match.
