 Ola, an Indian ride-hailing company, has achieved a remarkable milestone by selling a record-breaking 35,000 units of their electric scooter in May 2023. The company’s CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal, announced on Twitter that the eagerly awaited Ola S1 Air electric scooter will begin deliveries in July. A tester video showcasing the scooter’s design and production process has generated excitement among enthusiasts. The S1 Air boasts an 8.5 kW motor, a range of 91 km on a single charge, and can be fully charged at home within four hours. Ola aims to capitalize on the growing popularity of electric vehicles in India, which has become one of the largest EV markets globally.

Ola has experienced a successful start to 2023, with a thriving market and successful product launches. Last month, they achieved their highest sales figure to date, selling over 35,000 electric scooters and capturing over 30% market share in the segment. To further promote EV adoption, Ola has expanded its S1 portfolio and introduced three new variants at different price points. This expansion is expected to attract more customers to switch to electric vehicles permanently. Additionally, Ola Electric is planning to hold discussions with investors in Singapore and the United States for its upcoming IPO, with expectations to raise $600 million to $1 billion.

Bhavish Aggarwal, the CEO and founder of Ola, is embarking on a two-week trip to Singapore, the United States, and the United Kingdom to explore business opportunities in India’s emerging EV market ahead of the company’s IPO. Ola is supported by investors like SoftBank and Temasek and is aiming to raise substantial funds for its IPO, which is scheduled for late 2023. The company’s early investor meetings reflect their focus on capitalizing on India’s EV market potential.
