How Apprenticeships Can Transform Youths’ Talents And Skills?

 The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has expanded the Chief Minister’s Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (Higher Education) to encompass all graduates, aiming to bolster employment prospects for young diploma and degree holders by honing their skills. The new plan includes a monthly stipend of Rs 9,000, funded with Rs 10,000 from the state government and additional contributions from the central government and entrepreneurs involved. With a budget of Rs 100 crore, the scheme anticipates benefiting around 10 lakh students, and it marks a shift from only diploma holders to graduates from diverse fields.

Apprenticeship initiatives in India are gaining momentum as a means to bridge the gap between education and practical skills. These programs offer hands-on training, boosting employability by imparting valuable work experience. Employers are recognizing their worth and are increasingly willing to invest in apprentices, highlighting the significant return on investment. As the world is projected to face a shortage of skilled labor by 2030, apprenticeships are viewed as a solution, providing a continuous stream of trained workers.
