India Launches 'Bhashini': AI-Powered Translation Platform for Digital Inclusion

 India is actively working on an AI-powered language translation platform named ‘Bhashini’ to ensure digital inclusion across all sectors of society. Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared this initiative during the G20 Digital Economy Ministers’ meeting. The platform aims to provide language support for India’s diverse linguistic landscape, promoting accessibility for all.

Prime Minister Modi underscored India’s digital strides, crediting its affordable data consumption rates. He highlighted the success of initiatives like Aadhar, the digital identity platform covering over 1.3 billion people, which has revolutionized financial inclusion. Emphasizing collaboration and commitment, Modi expressed India’s willingness to share its knowledge and learnings globally.

The Prime Minister highlighted India’s unique advantage for testing digital solutions due to its diversity. He called for G20 consensus on secure and resilient digital principles and stressed the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence. Modi showcased the success of the Digital India campaign launched in 2014, which has driven inclusive digital transformation, marked by innovation and rapid implementation. Additionally, he introduced ‘Bhashini,’ an upcoming AI-powered translation platform, set to be available in multiple Indian languages.
