Madhya Pradesh to Go Paperless with DigiPass

The Madhya Pradesh government is set to introduce ‘DigiPass,’ a technology aimed at improving interactions between the public and government offices. Inspired by the success of ‘DigiYatra’ in streamlining airport processes, DigiPass seeks to enhance administrative procedures within government ministries and offices. Abhijeet Agrawal, Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation, unveiled this initiative during the AWS Public Sector Symposium in New Delhi. DigiPass is expected to usher in paperless and efficient workflows, ultimately making government operations more effective.

DigiYatra, known for its contactless facial recognition technology, has already simplified the airport experience at various Indian airports. While concerns about privacy have arisen due to the use of Facial Recognition Technology (FRT), authorities ensure that captured data is accessed and deleted within 24 hours after a passenger’s departure. Launched in December 2022, DigiYatra has garnered praise from flight travelers for its time-saving and paperless airport experience. The system is set to be implemented in multiple airports and is expected to enhance government efficiency, much like the anticipated impact of Madhya Pradesh’s DigiPass program. The rollout of DigiPass will be closely watched to assess its benefits.
