Prime Minister Modi Renames Old Parliament 'Samvidhan Sadan' in Historic Transition
With the shift of India’s Parliament to the new building, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has proposed renaming the old Parliament building as ‘Samvidhan Sadan.’ This name change reflects the historical significance of the old Parliament building, which witnessed crucial moments such as the Constituent Assembly meeting and the creation of the Indian Constitution. Prime Minister Modi emphasized that ‘Samvidhan Sadan’ honors the Indian Constitution and symbolizes the place where the nation shaped its destiny.

Prime Minister Modi urged political parties and members to prioritize the country’s growth over personal political gains. He highlighted India’s achievements in innovation, science, and technology, citing the success of Chandrayaan-3 as an inspiration for the youth. He also promoted the concept of “Zero Defect, Zero Effect,” encouraging the production of high-quality goods that do not harm the environment.
The old Parliament building will no longer host parliamentary sessions, but it will not be demolished. Instead, it will be conserved as an Indian archaeological asset and may be converted into a museum. Meanwhile, the new Parliament building is equipped with modern facilities to meet the evolving needs of the Indian Parliament. This transition symbolizes a new chapter in India’s journey, with hopes for significant growth and development, while the old building will serve as a symbol of India’s historical legacy.
