India unveils Gaganyaan crew; PM Modi applauds with standing ovation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the selection of four Indian Air Force officers for the Gaganyaan Mission, marking a significant milestone in India’s space exploration. These space travelers are the first Indians to venture into space from the Indian domain on an in-built shuttle. This achievement signifies India’s growing space innovation capabilities and its commitment to pushing the boundaries of research.

After a comprehensive preparation program in Russia, the four space travelers are currently receiving support at India’s ISRO training office. Their dedication and diligence reflect the soul of India’s space program, driven by a relentless interest in excellence and advancement. PM Modi also expressed his support for the chosen space travelers during his visit to the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) in Thiruvananthapuram. He emphasized that the space explorers represent India’s 1.4 billion citizens, symbolizing the nation’s commitment to making a visible mark in the universe.

In addition to the Gaganyaan mission, PM Modi introduced several important space offices to strengthen India’s space capabilities. The recently introduced PSLV Integration Office, the Semi-cryogenic Integrated Engine and Stage Test facility at Mahendragiri, and the Trisonic Wind Tunnel at VSSC are significant in expanding dispatch frequency, upgrading payload capacity, and developing space innovation. These facilities underscore India’s commitment to becoming an impressive global presence, capable of undertaking complex missions, and pushing the boundaries of space exploration. With the Gaganyaan Mission set to be completed, India stands on the cusp of an unused period of space exploration, driven by development, determination, and a shared vision of exploring the unknown.
