UAE Leads Global Efforts in Climate Action and Economic Cooperation through BRICS Collaboration

The UAE’s active participation in the BRICS High-Level Dialogue on Climate Change in Moscow is a powerful affirmation of the nation's unwavering commitment to global climate action and sustainable development. Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak Al Shamsi’s leadership during this dialogue not only highlights the UAE’s national efforts to combat climate change but also underscores the importance of international collaboration in addressing one of the most pressing challenges of our time.

The UAE's pledge to reduce emissions by 40 percent by 2030, as part of its Net Zero 2050 Strategy, reflects a forward-thinking approach that integrates economic growth with environmental responsibility. This ambitious commitment, coupled with the nation’s significant investments in renewable energy projects worldwide, positions the UAE as a global leader in the transition to a sustainable future. The investment of US$50 billion in renewable energy across over 70 countries, with an additional US$50 billion planned, is a testament to the UAE’s dedication to driving meaningful change on a global scale.

Moreover, the UAE’s accession to the BRICS group marks a significant milestone in its pursuit of multilateralism and constructive dialogue. This move is aligned with the UAE’s long-standing strategy of building robust partnerships with countries and international organizations to enhance economic competitiveness and sustainability. The UAE’s participation in BRICS is not merely symbolic; it is a strategic endeavor aimed at fostering balanced economic relations, advancing sustainable national growth, and solidifying its position in emerging and developing markets.

Younis Haji Al Khoori’s remarks further emphasize the UAE’s role as a catalyst for global economic cooperation. The UAE’s efforts to strengthen international trade cooperation, exemplified by hosting the 13th WTO Ministerial Conference, have already proven instrumental in addressing critical global issues. The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (CEPAs) initiated by the UAE are pivotal in enhancing global trade dynamics and supporting economic growth on both regional and global scales.

In essence, the UAE’s engagement with BRICS and its leadership in climate action are clear indicators of its commitment to a future where prosperity is shared, growth is sustainable, and global challenges are met with collective resolve. The UAE is not just participating in global dialogues; it is shaping them, driving progress towards a more equitable and sustainable world.
