UAE Pledges $300 Million in Global Humanitarian Aid to Jordan, Kenya, and Ethiopia

The UAE has made a remarkable pledge of $300 million in aid to Jordan, demonstrating its continued commitment to humanitarian causes. This aid package extends beyond emergency health support, with AED 63.8 million (USD 17.4 million) allocated for emergency shelter and multi-sector assistance. The funds will provide essential relief items, including winter clothing and blankets, to refugee camps in Jordan, aiming to improve living conditions for those displaced.

In Kenya, the UAE is focusing on empowering unaccompanied and separated refugee girls through education and protection programs. These initiatives aim to enhance access to education, improve learning outcomes, and provide essential resources such as equipment, learning materials, and furniture to boarding schools. The programs specifically target vulnerable refugee and host community girls, helping them secure a brighter future.

Ethiopia has also benefited significantly from UAE’s support, with AED 312.2 million (USD 85 million) pledged to the Famine Relief Fund. A substantial portion of this aid has been directed toward emergency food assistance in collaboration with UNICEF, UNHCR, and the World Food Programme. This contribution is crucial in addressing the growing food insecurity, particularly in conflict-ridden northern Ethiopia, providing vital nutrition to those in need.
