India's Path to the 2025 WTC Final: A Complicated Journey Ahead

The recent draw at the Gabba has undoubtedly kept India’s hopes of qualifying for the 2025 World Test Championship Final alive, but the path to Lord’s remains fraught with challenges. While a clean sweep in the remaining two Test matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy would bring India closer to their goal, the scenario becomes increasingly complex if they fail to win both.

A 2-1 series victory would depend on external factors, such as Sri Lanka's performance against Australia or Pakistan's showing against South Africa. The more the series drags on, the more unpredictable the qualification process becomes, with several factors—like other teams' results—playing a critical role.

A series loss, on the other hand, would be disastrous for India's qualification hopes. With just eight matches remaining in the WTC cycle, India cannot afford to lose momentum. Despite being in third place on the table, the competition remains tight, with four teams still in contention for the final spot.

As we approach the business end of the cycle, every match will be crucial. India's qualification, while possible, is far from guaranteed, and it will require a combination of solid performances and some favorable outcomes from other teams to secure their spot in the final at Lord's.
