 Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri’s recent diplomatic engagements in Dubai have underscored India’s proactive role in fostering regional partnerships and addressing global challenges. On Wednesday, Misri held two high-profile meetings—one with UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy, and the other with Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi. These meetings highlighted India’s commitment to deepening bilateral relationships and addressing pressing humanitarian and developmental issues.

Reinforcing the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

In his meeting with UAE’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem Al Hashimy, Misri focused on strengthening the already robust India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Discussions revolved around enhancing bilateral ties and exchanging views on regional and global issues of mutual interest. 



The Indian Embassy in UAE shared pictures of the meeting on X (formerly Twitter), noting, “Reinforcing India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership! Foreign Secretary @VikramMisri met H.E. Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation in Dubai today. They discussed ways to further deepen ties and exchanged views on regional and global issues.”

This meeting comes at a time when India and UAE are actively collaborating in various sectors, including trade, technology, and energy. The dialogue further solidified the partnership, paving the way for more collaborative ventures between the two nations.

Affirming Support for Afghanistan

Earlier in the day, Misri met with Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, in Dubai. This crucial meeting reaffirmed India’s unwavering support for the Afghan people amidst ongoing challenges.

The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared details of the meeting on X, stating, “Foreign Secy @VikramMisri met Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi in Dubai today. Both sides discussed ongoing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, bilateral issues, and the security situation in the region.”

India reiterated its commitment to providing humanitarian and developmental assistance, including:

  • Promoting trade and commerce, particularly through the Chabahar port.

  • Extending support to Afghanistan’s health sector.

  • Assisting in the rehabilitation of refugees.

The discussions also evaluated ongoing Indian humanitarian assistance programs. Misri highlighted India’s historic friendship with the Afghan people and reaffirmed New Delhi’s readiness to respond to Afghanistan’s urgent developmental needs. The Afghan minister expressed gratitude for India’s consistent engagement and support.
