Japan to Gift E5, E3 Shinkansen Trains for India's Bullet Train Project

In a significant gesture of cooperation, Japan is set to offer E5 and E3 series Shinkansen trains to India free of cost. These high-speed trains will serve as inspection vehicles for the upcoming Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor, India’s first high-speed rail line.

The E5 series, known for its advanced technology and comfort, and the compact E3 series are expected to aid in testing and maintenance of the corridor before passenger operations begin. This move underlines Japan’s continued support for India’s bullet train project, which is being developed with Japanese assistance under the Shinkansen system.

The gifted trains will help accelerate trial runs and ensure top-level safety and performance standards.
