Karnataka Cabinet Approved Induction of 4,000 Electric Buses Into State Transport Fleets

In a significant move towards promoting sustainable public transportation, the Karnataka cabinet has approved the induction of 4,000 electric buses into the state’s transport fleets. This initiative aligns with the state's efforts to reduce carbon emissions, improve air quality, and modernize public transit systems.

The electric buses will be deployed across major cities and towns, including Bengaluru, to replace aging diesel-powered buses. This transition is expected to not only lower operational costs but also support the state’s commitment to green mobility under the National Electric Mobility Mission.

The project will be implemented in phases, with necessary infrastructure such as charging stations being developed alongside. The government also plans to collaborate with private players and leverage central government support to ensure smooth execution.

This decision marks a major milestone in Karnataka’s journey toward a cleaner and more efficient public transport system.
