Starlink Gets Green Light from India’s DoT

Starlink, the satellite internet venture by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) from India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT), paving the way for the company to launch its satellite communication services in the country. This marks a significant step forward for Starlink’s entry into one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing internet markets.

The LoI indicates that the Indian government is open to Starlink’s presence, subject to regulatory approvals and compliance. Once all permissions are secured, Starlink could offer high-speed internet access, particularly in remote and underserved areas, aligning with India’s digital inclusion goals.

With this development, India joins a growing list of countries embracing satellite internet as a means to bridge connectivity gaps.
