Greener Andhra: 50% Green Cover by 2047

The Andhra Pradesh government has announced an ambitious plan to boost the state's green cover to 37% by 2029 and 50% by 2047. This initiative aligns with India's larger climate goals and sustainable development commitments.

The strategy includes large-scale afforestation, community participation, and protection of existing forests. Urban green spaces, agroforestry, and reforestation of degraded lands will also be prioritized to improve air quality, biodiversity, and climate resilience.

Officials emphasize that this long-term vision will not only combat climate change but also generate rural employment and enhance the quality of life for future generations.
