Maharashtra Govt. Inks pact with IIT Madras startup to build Hyperloop between JNPT & Vadhavan port

The Maharashtra government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with TuTr Hyperloop, a deep-tech startup incubated at IIT Madras, to develop a Hyperloop corridor connecting Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) and the upcoming Vadhavan port.

The futuristic transport system, based on magnetic levitation and vacuum tube technology, promises ultra-high-speed freight movement, significantly cutting down logistics time between the two major ports. Officials said the project aims to enhance efficiency in cargo transport, strengthen India’s maritime trade competitiveness, and position Maharashtra at the forefront of next-generation infrastructure.

If successful, this will be India’s first Hyperloop freight corridor, setting a global benchmark for sustainable and high-speed cargo movement.
