Union Govt. to install 72,000 EV charging stations across India under PM E-Drive scheme

 


The Union Government has announced plans to set up 72,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across India under the PM E-Drive scheme, a major push towards strengthening the country’s green mobility ecosystem.

The initiative aims to boost EV adoption by addressing one of the biggest challenges—charging infrastructure. The stations will bElectrice strategically installed in urban areas, highways, and remote locations to ensure nationwide accessibility.

Officials stated that the move will not only encourage more people to shift to EVs but also support India’s climate commitments and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. The project is expected to generate new jobs in the EV and renewable energy sectors while creating a robust framework for sustainable transportation.
