India to Set Up Satellite Tracking Station in Mauritius

India is set to establish a satellite tracking and data reception station in Mauritius, strengthening its presence in the Indian Ocean region. The facility will enhance India’s capabilities in space research, weather forecasting, disaster management, and maritime surveillance.

The station will also support India’s growing network of Earth observation and navigation satellites, while aiding regional cooperation in scientific research and security. Positioned strategically, Mauritius will serve as a key hub for monitoring satellite activity over the Indian Ocean, bolstering both India’s space program and its maritime interests.
