Kochi Metro to Draft DPR for Mumbai Water Metro

The Maharashtra government has entrusted Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) with preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Mumbai’s ambitious water metro project. Modeled on Kochi’s pioneering water metro system, the project aims to ease congestion, improve last-mile connectivity, and provide eco-friendly transport across Mumbai’s waterways.

The DPR will outline routes, infrastructure, vessel types, costs, and timelines for implementation. Once operational, the Mumbai water metro is expected to integrate seamlessly with existing suburban rail, metro, and bus networks, offering commuters a faster, greener alternative for travel.
