India to Develop Indigenous Chipsets and Energy-Efficient Microprocessors: Announces Ashwini Vaishnaw

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that India will soon begin developing indigenous chipsets and energy-efficient microprocessors, marking a major stride toward self-reliance in semiconductor technology.

The initiative aims to strengthen India’s position in the global tech ecosystem by reducing dependence on imports and fostering innovation in domestic semiconductor design and manufacturing. Vaishnaw emphasized that this effort aligns with the government’s “Digital India” and “Make in India” missions, focusing on creating high-performance, low-power processors suited for AI, IoT, and smart devices.

Experts view this as a crucial step toward building a sustainable and secure semiconductor ecosystem in the country.
