Karnataka Plans New International Airport in South Bengaluru to Ease Pressure on KIA

The Karnataka government has announced plans to develop a new international airport in South Bengaluru to reduce congestion at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA).

The proposed project aims to accommodate the region’s rapidly growing passenger traffic and support Bengaluru’s expanding tech and industrial hubs. Preliminary discussions are underway to identify suitable land and attract private investment under a public-private partnership model. Officials said the new airport will enhance connectivity, decongest KIA, and promote balanced regional development across the southern parts of the city.
