UPI Transactions Hit Record ₹27 Trillion in October Amid Festive Surge

India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) witnessed a record-breaking month in October, with transactions touching an all-time high of ₹27 trillion. The surge coincided with the festive season, as millions of Indians turned to digital payments for shopping, travel, and gifting.

According to NPCI data, UPI processed over 14 billion transactions, reflecting the growing trust and convenience of cashless payments. Experts say the festive spike underscores India’s digital economy momentum, with UPI continuing to dominate everyday transactions — from small retail purchases to big-ticket online sales.
