Rolls-Royce to Make India a Home Market

Rolls-Royce has announced plans to treat India as a “home market,” underscoring the country’s growing strategic importance to the British engineering major. The company said its future growth in India will be anchored around high-value jet engine manufacturing and advanced naval propulsion programs.

The move aligns with India’s push for defence self-reliance and deeper industrial partnerships under initiatives like Make in India. Rolls-Royce aims to expand local manufacturing, technology transfer, and long-term collaboration with Indian partners across aerospace and defence.

By focusing on jet engines and maritime propulsion, Rolls-Royce intends to support India’s military modernisation while building a robust domestic supply chain. The announcement signals a shift from India being just a large customer base to becoming a core market and manufacturing hub for the company.
