Sarla Aviation to Build India’s First eVTOL Manufacturing Plant in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur

India’s aviation and advanced manufacturing ecosystem is set for a transformational leap as Bengaluru-based Sarla Aviation announced plans to construct India’s first electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft manufacturing plant in Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh. The landmark investment places India firmly on the global map of next-generation air mobility while strengthening the country’s ambitions in clean aviation, smart mobility, and high-tech manufacturing.

The proposed facility represents a significant milestone not only for Sarla Aviation but also for Andhra Pradesh’s growing reputation as a destination for future-ready industries.

What Are eVTOL Aircraft and Why They Matter

Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing aircraft, commonly known as eVTOLs, are battery-powered aerial vehicles capable of vertical take-off and landing without the need for traditional runways. Designed primarily for urban air mobility, air taxis, emergency services, and cargo transport, eVTOLs promise quieter operations, zero tailpipe emissions, and reduced congestion in densely populated cities.

Globally, countries such as the United States, Germany, and Japan are racing to commercialise eVTOL technology. Sarla Aviation’s move positions India to join this elite group at an early stage.

Sarla Aviation: India’s Homegrown Urban Air Mobility Pioneer

Founded in Bengaluru, India’s aerospace and startup hub, Sarla Aviation has emerged as one of the country’s most promising companies in electric aviation. The firm focuses on designing and developing safe, sustainable, and scalable eVTOL solutions tailored to Indian and global urban environments.

By establishing a full-scale manufacturing plant rather than relying solely on imports or assembly, Sarla Aviation aims to build a vertically integrated ecosystem—from design and prototyping to large-scale production and testing.
