Maharashtra to Launch India's First Pod Taxi Network

  Mumbai, November 18, 2025 – Maharashtra is set to introduce India’s first Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system, popularly known as “Pod Taxi”, connecting Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Mira-Bhayandar. The ambitious project, approved by the Maharashtra cabinet on Tuesday, will see an elevated, automated pod taxi corridor linking the three rapidly growing urban centres on the outskirts of Mumbai. The 28–30 km network will run primarily along the Ghodbunder Road–Palm Beach Road corridor and extend towards Mira-Bhayandar, offering a fast, traffic-free alternative for daily commuters.
